Nifty Oct 2024 Futures stood at 25,048.80, a premium of 77.50 points
above the spot closing of 24,971.30. The turnover on NSE’s Futures and
Options segment fell to Rs.6,788.46 crore on October 16,2024, compared
with Rs.4,84,210.23 crore on October 15,2024.
The Put-Call ratio stood at 0.95 compared with the previous session’s close
of 0.99.
The Nifty Put-Call ratio stood at 0.74 compared with the previous session’s
close of 0.77.
Open interest on Nifty Futures stood at 15.86 million, compared with the
previous session’s close of 15.71 million.
Bond yields mostly remained steady amid a lack of fresh trigger.
Yield on the 10-year benchmark paper (7.10%GS 2034) was unchanged to
close at 6.77%as compared to the previous day’s close.
Reserve Bank of India conducted the auction of 91 days, 182 days and 364
days Treasury Bills for an aggregate amount of Rs.19,000 crore for which
the full amount was accepted, and the cut-off rate stood at Rs.98.4170
(YTM: 6.4515%), Rs.96.8376 (YTM: 6.5493%) and Rs.93.8739 (YTM:
6.5438%), respectively.
RBI conducted the auction of Overnight Variable Rate Reverse Repo for the
notified amount of Rs.50,000 crore for which amount of Rs.38,133 crore
was accepted, and the cut-off yield stood at 6.49%.
The Indian rupee in the spot trade rose against the U.S. dollar, supported by
broad-based interbank greenback sales.
Euro fell marginally against the U.S. dollar as investors will be closely
watching the European Central Bank meeting on 17th Oct, 2024.
Gold prices rose on bets that the U.S. Federal Reserve will deliver more
interest rate cuts in coming months.
Brent crude oil prices (spot) fell slightly on concerns about weak demand
from China and slightly easing geopolitical worries.
According to the Office for National Statistics, U.K. consumer price inflation
weakened more-than-expected to 1.7% in Sep 2024 from 2.2% in Aug 2024.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index remained flat after rising 0.3%
in the prior month. Economists had expected a 0.2% increase.
According to Eurostat, eurozone’s industrial output posted a monthly
growth of 1.8% in Aug 2024, reversing Jul's 0.5% decline. The growth came
in line with expectations.
According to the Cabinet Office, Japan’s core machine orders down a
seasonally adjusted 1.9% a month in Aug 2024. That missed forecasts for a
decline of 0.1%, which would have been the same as the Jul 2024 reading.
