An Indian company in the business of adhesives, chemicals, and sealants managed to save Rs 33.23 crores in FY23 thanks to the use of renewable sources of energy.
The company moved away from energy guzzling equipment to energy efficient ACs, motion sensors, and variable frequency drives. It installed electrical centrifugal pumps and energy-saving heat pumps and BLDC fans to reduce energy costs. In FY23, the company spent a total of Rs 5 crore to deploy all the necessary energy conservation equipment. In terms of GJ (gigajoule) per metric ton of production, energy intensity was reduced to 1.61 in FY23 from 2.03 in FY22.
With focus on environment conservation, the adhesive maker increased the usage of solar energy, green fuel, and wind energy at its manufacturing units. It installed 16 solar PV plants, resulting in an electricity saving of 29 lakh kWh units and a fund saving of Rs 2.46 crore.
To reduce its carbon footprints, the company focused on green fuel for its day-to-day operations, and this helped it save Rs 26.7 crore. In FY23, the company managed to reduce CO2 emissions per MT of production to 0.061 tonnes, from 0.081 tonnes in FY22.
To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the company generated 53 lakh kWh of energy from two windmills, of which it managed to utilize 38 lakh kWh. This resulted in a cost saving of Rs 3.24 crore.
With ESG at centre of its operational strategy, the company is not only contributing to a greener planet but is making its operations more economical.
