A domestic fashion and retail company continues to enhance its commitment to environmental care and operational responsibility. The year 2024-25 was characterized by focused initiatives to minimize its environmental impact and improve resource efficiency along the value chain, demonstrating straightforward integration of sustainability into its overall strategy.
During FY 2025, the total energy consumption from renewable resources amounted to 116 TJ (terajoule) in FY 24-25, from 112 TJ in FY 23-24. This reduction demonstrates the company’s continuous investment in energy-efficient technologies and its commitment to optimizing operations for lower emissions.
Recognizing water as a critical resource, the company introduced innovative measures to manage and reduce freshwater use across its facilities. In FY 2025, total water consumption recorded a slight increase to 191,936 KL (kilolitre) in FY 24-25, compared to 190,778 KL in FY 22-23. However, water consumption intensity improved significantly, dropping to 12.82 KL in FY 24-25 from 16.25 KL in FY 22-23. This improvement reflects the effectiveness of water optimization projects and the integration of conservation practices throughout the production process.
The company continued to strengthen its waste reduction and circularity initiatives, aligning with its long-term goal of achieving zero waste to landfill. In FY 24-25, total waste generation decreased to 5,156 MT (metric tons), down from 5,556 MT in FY 22-23. This progress was supported by systematic waste segregation, material reuse, and enhanced recycling infrastructure.
Further, significant progress was made in sustainable packaging. The proportion of compostable plastic packaging increased to 46% in FY 24-25 from 18% in FY 22-23, reinforcing the company’s efforts to minimize plastic waste and promote circular design principles.
To conclude, these findings represent a data-driven, strategic path to a more sustainable business model. The journey outlined within is evidence of a promise not only to set targets, but to take concrete, measurable steps towards those goals. This process of iterative refinement is proof that responsible corporate behaviour is an iterative endeavour, requiring innovation, accountability, and relentless dedication to creating lasting positive impact.
