India’s leading automotive and manufacturing multinational is driving planet-positive progress, embedding sustainability at its core. Focusing on environmental stewardship, carbon neutrality, and ecological restoration, it is advancing energy-efficient manufacturing, emission reduction, and renewable energy adoption to achieve global leadership in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards by 2030.
In terms of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the company has significantly reduced 8,926 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) in FY24. While overall production increased, investments in renewable energy and emission control measures effectively managed absolute emissions.
A key milestone in their sustainability journey has been the improvement in scope 3 emissions, which decreased from 80,214,591 tCO₂e in FY23 to 76,625,951 tCO₂e in FY24, largely driven by fuel efficiency enhancements and reductions in tailpipe emissions.
Through projects like additive manufacturing, the company achieved a 309.6-ton reduction in CO₂ emissions in 2024, equivalent to planting 1,856 trees. Additionally, 101,680 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy were saved annually.
Optimising energy use in welding has further strengthened these efforts, leading to a 40% reduction in spot weld energy consumption and saving 11.2 lakh energy units annually. This initiative also cut carbon emissions by 269 metric tons, improved weld integrity to 99.95%, and resulted in ₹1.08 crore in operational savings without significant investment. Additionally, ₹1.5 crore in capital expenditure savings was achieved through process enhancements, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable and efficient manufacturing.
As part of its energy-saving initiatives in the automotive sector, the company has enhanced efficiency by replacing traditional air handling units (AHUs) with intelligent electronically commutated (EC) blowers and upgrading air circulators to brushless direct current (BLDC) and high-volume low speed (HVLS) fans. These upgrades have significantly reduced energy consumption, achieving over 50% savings with EC blowers across seven plants and more than 35% savings with BLDC air circulators in nine plants. This initiative has reduced 5,502 tons of carbon dioxide emissions and energy cost savings of ₹6.2 crore.
The company remains committed in reducing carbon emissions, with strategic investments guiding its path toward a more sustainable and responsible future.
