​An Indian Agrochem Company is Planting Sustainability using Renewables

More and more Indian companies are integrating ESG practices into their daily operations to showcase their commitment for sustainability. One such entity is an Indian MNC (Multinational Corporation) that provides sustainable agriculture solutions. The company provides solutions that boost agricultural productivity, while preserving natural resources and safeguarding environment.

The Indian company’s sustainability efforts got thumbs up with recognition from the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) for its sustainability leadership. In 2022, Sustainalytics ranked the company as the top sustainability performer among all the agrochemicals companies across the globe.

In FY22-23, the company made significant strides in reducing its CO2 emissions, achieving a remarkable 21% decrease per tonne compared to FY19-20. Furthermore, for Scope 1 and 2 emissions, the specific CO2 footprint per metric ton saw a notable reduction from 1337.46 kg/MT in FY20 to 1055.35 kg/MT in FY23.

During FY22-23, the company also achieved a commendable 14% reduction in Scope 3 emissions associated with purchased goods and services, fuel and energy activities, and upstream transportation and distribution, compared to the base year FY19-20.

The company's commitment to renewable energy sources was evident from the fact that it procured 73,844.14 MWh of energy from wind and solar sources during FY22-23. Its conservation initiatives saved a substantial 11,581 gigajoules energy.
