​Indian Pharma Major becomes Energy Efficiency through Carbon Neutrality & Saves Money​

In FY23, The portion of renewable energy, in the total energy utilization, went up to 6.2% in FY23 from 5% in FY22. In order to reduce its carbon footprints, the company increased usage of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and PNG (Piped Natural Gas), apart from adopting bio-briquette boilers.

The company witnessed a total energy savings was 1584.81 MWh (megawatt-hours) in FY23. Some of the major energy-saving initiatives of the company were - installation of VFDs and LED lights, and a switch to the energy-efficient AHU (Air Handling Unit) system.

In FY23, the company shifted to electrical heating from steam heating at one of its plants. This helped it reduce diesel consumption by 1,12,335 litres, and a saving of Rs 10.2 million.

The company also installed a heat pump, and this helped it reduce the monthly load on chillers by 6,557 TRH (Tonnes of Refrigeration).
