It included 520.3 million megajoules (MJ) of purchased renewable energy and 10.7 million megajoules self-generated through solar photovoltaic. This transition resulted in emissions savings of over 101,002 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e).
In its efforts toward energy efficiency and greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation, the company reduced its scope 1& 2 emissions to 38,928 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) in 2024, down from 68,760 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in financial year 2023. Additionally, the company lowered its scope 3 emissions to 172,188 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2024, compared to 271,793 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in financial year 2023, demonstrating its commitment and capability in driving sustainability.
The company implemented an optimised configuration for one of its chiller units in a southern Indian state, resulting in significant energy and cost savings. The number of chillers was reduced from 6 to 3; the tonnage capacity was optimised from 4200 tons of refrigeration (TR) to 2400 TR, pumps were reduced from 27 to 6, and cooling towers were decreased from 6 to 3. These changes enhanced operational efficiency, leading to a 40% reduction in energy consumption and annual cost savings of ₹18 million.
With continuous strides toward a brighter and more sustainable future, the company aims to achieve net zero emissions in near future through innovations, partnerships, transparency, and collaborations, creating a better world for future generations.
