One of the largest domestic steel producer has embarked on a transformative journey toward a net-zero future, guided by a strong commitment to decarbonisation and environmental stewardship. With sustainability at the heart of its corporate vision, the company continues to prioritise reducing its carbon footprint while advancing a cleaner, more responsible industrial future.
Recognising the urgency of climate action, the company has made carbon reduction a central element of its corporate strategy. In the financial year 2025, it successfully reduced its total scope 1 carbon emissions to 52,178,648 tons in FY 24-25 from 52,622,079 tons of CO₂ (Carbon dioxide) in FY 23-24.
Regarding renewable energy consumption, the company reported a rise in total energy use to 1,400 TJ (Terajoule) in 2024–25 from 230 TJ (Terajoule) in 2022–2023. The growth was accompanied by a significant increase in the share of renewable energy, marking a decisive step toward a sustainable energy transition.
Water conservation and resource optimisation remain integral to the sustainability framework. The total water usage stood at 3 m³ per tons of crude steel (tcs) in FY 2025, an improvement from 3.06 m³/tcs in 2023. This achievement highlights a deliberate effort to enhance efficiency and accountability in resource use.
Advancing toward its goal of zero liquid discharge, the company treated and recirculated 128 million m³ of wastewater in 2025, successfully repurposing it for further industrial applications. This initiative reflects a strong commitment to circular water management and sustainable industrial operations.
The company’s 2025 sustainability journey illustrates a blend of ambition, accountability, and innovation. While challenges remain in balancing growth with emissions reduction, its consistent focus on renewable energy, water conservation, and responsible resource use lays a strong foundation for a greener, more resilient future. Through these efforts, it continues to shape not just steel but a sustainable legacy for generations to come.
